Youth Venture Lead – Sophie Ebsary
Hi! I’m a third year biomedical engineering student originally from Ottawa. I am part of EWB because I want to have the opportunity to learn more about the way engineers can have an impact on global and environmental issues. I also want to be able to teach students about key challenges that our global community is currently facing. I believe that the best path towards a better future is to inform and empower our creative and determined youth.
Hi, I’m Rayhan Bosch and I’m from Cape Town, South Africa. I’m currently in first year General Engineering, and if you’re looking for me outside of EWB, I’m most likely either watching or playing soccer somewhere. As for why I got involved, it’s because I went to the introductory meeting at the beginning of the semester and I’ve been hooked ever since. I really enjoy being a part of EWB because it provides me with a place to think about issues outside of the classroom, and helps me develop as a person.
Fair Trade Lead – Paul Liu
My name is Paul and I just survived first year engineering (YAY). I joined EWB due to my love of volunteering, seeing people smile and working with people. I will be leading the FairTrade venture and I hope that I can bring smiles to many more faces with our amazing pancake breakfasts while laughing and accomplishing alongside this year’s amazing team. I have a deadly love of dogs that explains my experience of being bitten by 3 and a habit of binging on good books for days.
“Hello, my name is Runor. I’m a 3rd year Engineering Physics student with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering. I joined Engineers Without Borders to get involved with international development and learn more about global issues. I also enjoy watching movies in my spare time.
Hi! I’m Josh! I’m a Third year Electrical Engineering Student from right here in Beautiful British Columbia and I’m your Global Engineering Venture Co-Lead this year. I want to contribute to an organization that supports the personal development of its members and the free exchange of new ideas.

I am in second year Material Engineering. EWB is an organization I really admire because it stands to make a difference in the world by getting students involved to be more responsible towards the environment. I got involved with EWB Sustainability because it has a great sense of leadership and direction. It has inspired me to promote sustainable living while connecting with people who really want to make a difference.
Member Learning Lead – Arslan Bhatti
I will be your Member Learning Lead this year! I’m a second year student studying electrical engineering. I joined EWB because I want to have a positive impact on my community any way I can. EWB really allows for that to happen through numerous ventures, volunteering, and social interactions. And through member learning, there will be numerous opportunities to discuss on-going issues around the world. Outside of EWB, I love playing basketball, listening to music, and meeting new people. I’m very excited to see what the future holds and to see lots of different faces coming out to our events!
Office Manager – Rishabh Singal
In the first week of my student life at UBC, I heard about an upcoming EWB general discussion. The topic was Fairtrade. Sounds interesting, doesn’t it? As it turns out, it was much more than just interesting. I walked out of the discussion smarter and much more thought-provoked than I had expected. In the following weeks, months, and years, I kept attending EWB general and venture meetings where I met many awesome people and developed a much greater understanding of global issues. Currently, I am a third-year mechatronics engineering student and outside of EWB, I am part of UBC UAS.
Global Lounge Officer – Andrew Osama
Hi! My name is Andrew and I am in my 4th year studying Chemical and Biological Engineering. I have been somewhat involved with EWB since my second year but I have been involved with humanitarian issues since high schools. I believe there are many amazing people around that could and are doing great things in this world to help others. I would love to continue in this field when I graduate 🙂
IT Director – Iryna Luchak
Hi! Welcome to the EWB website! You can call me Irene, and I’m in second year studying Computer Engineering! I became involved last year by attending events and weekly Member Learning sessions. I learn something new every time I am with the EWB community, and feel a strong sense of belonging because the EWB UBC people are very friendly and fun! I enjoy yoga, meditation, walks on the beach and philosophy. I also love doodling and dancing randomly on streets ( join me if ya feel it)! Get in touch with me about EWB or anything life-related, I’d love to get to know you! Cheers 🙂
